Really hoping someone can shed some light on this one for me:

I had an 8900 Curve which has been replaced by my carrier because of a dodgy trackball. I have configured the new one to be identical to the old one (largely through restoring a backup) - and everything works just perfectly and looks identical - except for ONE thing (and I can compare the two directly as I still have the old 8900 beside the new one): system menu font size.

The old one had a smaller font size used for the following: email messages list (i.e. the menu you get when you click on teh email icon), address book and some other system menus such as those you get when you press the Blackberry button. The new one has larger font. This seems to have nothing to do with the font size selected in the Options> Screen/Keyboard> menu, which is teh same on both, and seems to alter teh font size inside of email message setc - but not these fundamental ones.

For example - when I look at the Options list when pressing the Options icon - on the old one I get small font with a list that starts at "About" and goes all the way down to "Spell Check" at the bottom of teh screen. On the new one the font is slightly larger and only gets as far as part of "Security Options" at the bottom of the screen.

I have been through every option or setting and can find nothing to change this - and I have a feeling that I did select this smaller view on teh original one (though I am at a loss to know how - and of course I may be imagining it).

New one is v4.6.1.99 (Platform 4.2.0.102) and old one is v4.6.1.101 (Platform 4.2.0.72).

PLEASE - any one.... any ideas

I have had the exact same experience replacing a Curve. In previous attempts to land the smallest possible font, I noticed that first setting the unit on the "System" font, with a fixed font size of 10, and then moving to BBMillbank Tall, Font Size 7, resulted in a smaller font displaying all the way down to Spell Check on the Options page. But this "updated" version of the Curve no longer lists "System" in the Font Family pull-down menu.

How can we get back to the future?

I'm having the same issue with a Bold. Have we found a solution to this?

Your OS doesn't match on the two devices - put OS v4.6.1.101 on the new one and you should then be identical with the old one
