Default Sync'ng two PCs - one Blackberry - 01-05-2005, 08:36 PM

I have a BB that I use for work and would like to be able synch the contacts, tasks and notes to the home desktop. If this is possible, then I don't have to have a PDA to sync at home, then sync at work - I can use one device.

Any help is appreciated.

You sure can, just keep in mind you could end up with duplicate if your BB is setup to allow. Beyond that no issue, I sync with my Mac at home and PC at work daily.

Ok. Thanks - being new to black berry how would I do that? I have loaded the software from the cd that was used to install the desktop manager at work. The software version is 3.6.3.10 (July 19 2004). Do I just connect the BB now? As you can see, I am so new - that I am reluctant to connect the BB until I know what the process/steps are.

It's important to decide which machine is the master: the BB or one of the PC's. The set your sync preferences on each of the pcs accordingly. I do the same thing as you propose - my work PC is the master so when I sync my BB to it all conflicts are resolved in favour of the work pc. At home - all conficts are resolved in favour of the BB. The odd screwup occurs but it's manageable.

Are you using PocketMac or SyncAgain? If you are using PocketMac, have you had any problemswith BB Memos disappearing after a sync?

I am using Desktop manager (latest verion) I have never seen the "sync preferences on each of the pcs..... my work PC is the master"

Where is this setting? I have never seen the Master option. When I sync at home it is erasing appointments that changed during the day.

Thanks,

It is on the Advanced Settings screen. You get to it from the Configure drop down on the Configure PIM screen.

"Master" is a concept. You need to set which system wins when there is a conflict during the sync.

When you install the desktop software at home, select the 'BlackBerry Internet Email' option... this way it doesn't install the re-director. Best thing to do is to un-install the desktop software and then follow the steps here:
