Having been a BB Storm user since August, I am overjoyed with the product now that I have paid to have a data plan which seems to join everything up automatically, showing that you cannot have a BB without such a plan, as all the settings are sent on registration and you just cannot get round it manually.

I really love the phone now but my last remaining problem is one that I saw on the forum some time ago but cannot find it now. The problem is that on every 5th or 6th ocassion when I enter my password, on pressing Enter, the screen goes blank, the red light comes on>black screen>white screen>timer>blue progess bar along the bottom of the screen, then after some 5 minutes I am prompted to enter my password again, which when I do so, I get "reorganising call data"

The most annoying thing about it is that you enter the password to use your phone ... sometimes fairly urgently ... no need to continue.

Can anyone tell me what is happening (obviously a backup of some sort) and how I can get round it?

Do you have one of those apps running that does an auto reset for you on a schedule? Or maybe the BB is rebotting on it's own when locked and you don't see it happen. That's the only idea that comes to mind. Perhaps you see the reorganizing call logs, etc, after a reset has occured. I only see what you describe after I do a soft reset or a battery pull. Otherwise, never that I've noticed.

Thanks for your prompt response. I am not sure that I have anything scheduled as such, if there is anything running I am not aware. Are you saying that it may be caused by the way I exit i.e. perhaps putting it back into the holster whilst an an application is still running.

That would make sense as it has never happened when I switch on first thing in the morning, only during the day when I have logged on a number of times.

I will try to be a little more careful in how I holster. The more I use the BB, the more I love it. I would hate such an annoying reboot or whatever to spoilt the fun.

Kindest Regards Bob B

It's just an idea. There could be a number of causes. Putting in the holster while an app is running isn't necessarily going to be a problem, but a buggy app could be. Best I can advise is think back to what you were doing or did when you first realized this was happening, pay attention now, and see if you can find a pattern.

But it's just a thought. I think it's probably a long shot, anyway, as I think you would also see spontaneous reboots when you are using it, if this is what's going on.

What OS are you running?

Might be worth upgrading to the latest out there.. 5.0 is suppose to be great on the 9500/9530.

Thanks for all your help so far. I am gradually working through the issues and for the last week or so, I have removed my password security and the phone has worked superbly, not one reboot or whatever. That leads me to believe it is only associated with the entry and verification of my password.

I clearly cannot continue without a password as I have a lot of personal information in documents and because we cannot password the document folders, I will have to restart using my password sometime soon in the future.

Anyone got any more ideas in the light of the above? I have not upgraded to 5.0 (probably because I don't know how to) but if anyone can help as above or have a similar problem, it would be good to hear from you.

The BB is otherwise functioning great and I love it.

Their is an article in the FAQ section of the site, which has instructions on loading the OS. It's surprised a very painless and easy process. You will be surprised.

Depending how sensitive the information is, you may also want to turn on encryption on the Media Card, but be careful because it has been known for media card encryption to go a bit screwy at the beginning.
