We just this minute fixed this same problem with one of our BB users! It was driving us nuts for the past few days. We made some changes that should have nothing to do with this problem and the error message changed from tasks to notes!!! Wierd eh?
Anyway, we fixed the problem by performing a 'Reset Configuration' in the Intellisync settings section in Desktop manager. It looks like part of the feild mappings configuration was corrupted and the 'Reset Configuration' resets all PIM settings including the Outlook->Blackberry field mappings.
