I have BES 4.0 on W2K running. I had Veritas backup Exec on the server, but it didn't work as supposed. I deinstalled it. Now my attachment service is not starting. I tried to reinstall it, but then I have to reinstall the whole server. I don't get the option to only install Attachment Service. I tried to backup my databse with "blackberrydbbackup" but I get no access. I'm using WIndows authentification(trusted).
Can I just copy the SQL-database somewhere, deinstall the server and reinstall it, copying the SQL-files back?
Any other ideas, which could help?

What error are you getting within your application log when you try to start your attachment service? as well when you go to start the service it should be giving you an error message as well.

Regarding your backup you will want to run

Type osql -E, and press ENTER.
Type the following commands in the specified order, and press ENTER after each line:
1> backup database besmgmt to disk = 'C:\besmgmt.bak'
2> go
3> quit

Copy the besmgmt.mdf and besmgmtlog.ldf files from your SQL data directory.
Also export your user list and server list

but I would look towards why the Attachment service is not starting rather then reinstalling the entire BES
