Post Was BIS/BWC and now have BES icon and no e-mail

Please Login to Remove!

7290 was running fine under BIS/BWC. BWC still works fine from my laptop. BB now has an "Enterprise Activation" icon and I get "No message services configured" message when I try to compose an e-mail. I have never had this icon and all was well until upgraded, or maybe deleted something. I have tried to wipe, reloaded the OS and desktop software and have tried to downgrade the OS and everything else I can think of or have read about. I can't get the BB to reload in BIS mode without the new icon. I have no service books or anything set under TCP. I have no option under message services. I also no longer have a brower icon. Help!!
Just want simple BIS using my cingular account.

Hide the Enterprise Activation icon by holding down the alt key and then pushing the track wheel in at the same time(while you have the cursor over the icon you want to hide), then choose the option to hide the icon and click the wheel.

After the icon is hidden then go to your BIS/BWC site and resend yourself the service books, that should get you back in business.

Default Icon gone, but service books are not recieved.

I was able to hide the Enterprise Services icon and tried to send the service books, but nothing was recieved on the BB. There is still no options under Message Services and nothing set under TCP. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. BWC works fine from laptop.

Check this on your BB:
1.) Go to options -> Service Books.
2.) If you don't see Web Client [CMIME], you haven't received the Service Books.

As the gentleman pointed out above, you need to login to your BIS account via your laptop, click on "Options" and scoll down to "Send Service Books". Make sure you have good coverage (under -100 dBm...find this in "Options -> Status"...the lower this number is the better your reception). If it's over -95, your coverage isn't good enough and you won't get the books.

When you do receive them you will have a new email in Messages that says you can now use your BIS account. Lemme know if this works.

Default Hid icon and sent service books with no luck.

Hid icon and sent service books with no luck. Have a very strong signal.
Other forums have replied and asked for the PIN info which is showing FFFFFFFF as the PIN. They state it is a DE365 error and I must get a replacement BB to fix the problem. They state that there is no software fix and to get an RMA and get a new BB under warranty.

I would reload your handheld software first through Application Loader.

If this doesn't work, then I would try and get the JavaLoader utility (I've seen it mentioned in these forums before but do not know where to obtain it) and do a wipe of the handheld using command "javaloader -u wipe" from DOS and reload your handheld software after this is done (in App Loader or using command "javaloader -u load *.cod", if App Loader fails to connect correctly).

It COULD be a software issue and if it this will resolve it. If not, RMA!!

Does your PIN still show up in the webclient? If not, you may need to re-enter your PIN/EMEI under the "change handheld" option and once you have it entered correctly, resend your service books.

Btw, it sounds like to me your handheld was wiped to begin with, as the Activation ICON seems to always show up with the handheld software is reset to out-of-the-box. I just hide it along with all the others I don't use when I set up the BB to begin with, but hiding it has nothing to do with fixing your problem ;)

From what I understood, he said his device PIN "on" the BlackBerry shows "FFFFFFF". If this is the case, then resetting the PIN on the BIS account won't make a difference. If it "does" show correctly, then ignore the response I posted previously.

I wasn't sure by his reply if he was talking about the handheld or webclient, try looking at these threads:

My understanding is that no device leaves RIM without a PIN number clearly available. I would check under the battery for the PIN number listed there, if there is no sticker or if there is a sticker with a number and nothing you do gets you to confirm that number or you continue to show FFFFFFFF as the PIN number, then I suggest to take it back to the carrier since you have a bad device.

I have seen this issue many times, it is always "FFFFFFF" as well. Try the steps I highlighted above before you bring it back, unless you can't be bothered.
