Disable password requirement on BB 7230 Device -- BB 7230 OS -- RIM 4.0.0.185 Carrier -- T-Mobile Desktop Manager -- 4.0.0.30 I purchased a BB 7230 on ebay. All the functions work fine except I have to enter a password after the device sets unused for a while (30 minutes max). I have upgraded the software in the handheld to BB 4.0 and I have done both a soft-reset and a hard-reset. I have removed all software from the BB and the reinstall everything, but I still need a password. In the securtiy menu it show an option for PASSWORD with ENABLED highlighted. When I choose it a new menu opens with the options to: Hide Menu -------------------------- Change Password Wipe handheld Verify Security Software -------------------------- Save Close I have done all the options but I can not diable the password. any help would be great |
Thats the reason you don't buy from ebay. That phone was most likely on a BES prior to you purchasing it, and still has the IT Policy on it. This policy is what causes it to require a password. Since this is a security feature, the only way to have it removed is to have a BES admin push a blank policy to your phone. Or you can contact the person who sold it to you. |
Or you can do a search on "remove policy" or "IT Policy" and some folks here have figured out how to remove an IT Policy. |
