Default Antialias mode

In Settings : Options : Screen/Keyboard there is a setting for Antialias mode which has possible values of Antialiasing and No Antialiasing.

Can anyone tell me what Antialiasing means?

Thanks.

Default Antialiasing

Does anyone know what difference changing this from on to off or vice versa makes to the performance or functionality of the BB?

It smoothes out your fonts. Makes them look a little nicer. I use it. It supposedly slows down your BB a little but I haven't noticed it.
