Default BES Server version 4

Please Login to Remove!

We have just had to upgrade to version 4 of BES and this has caused some spurious results for users.

One user has got duplicate addresses on his Blackberry device and it appears to have rejigged his outlook contacts.

Other things like when you send a message from outlook it also appears on the Blackberry?

Has anyone got any thoughts about moving to Service Pack 3?

Thanks for anyone's assistance.

The user is not using code 4.1 (I don't think). Is that the Desktop Manager code? Or firmware?

Replying to:

1.) What does "rejigged" mean? Are the Contacts duplicated in Outlook as well? If so, either do a restore of the users mailbox/mailfile on the box or manually delete the dupes from Outlook then... plug BB into Desktop Manager (DTM). With the BB plugged in, (on the handheld) go into Options -> Service Books delete the "Desktop [SYNC]" service book.

Now open Backup/Restore from Desktop Manager, click "Advanced" and "clear" the Address Book database. Then just resync the Address Book with Outlook to get the "good" addresses back over. Uncradle the BB then just recradle to have Desktop [SYNC] regenerated. This is the wireless service book used to wirelessly sync the Address Book, MemoPad and Tasks.

2.) To turn this off.
On the handheld, go into Messages. Go to Options -> Email Settings. Push trackwheel in anywhere and select "Folder Redirection". Expand the "Mailbox" and remove the checkmark for "Sent Items".

OR

In Desktop Manager. Go to Redirector Settings, Advanced tab, then under Folder Redirection, select "Selected Folders" radio button then click "Choose Folders". Remove the checkmark from "Sent Items".

3.) If you don't have SP3, get it.
