I just updated my Windows XP box two days ago with the following Security Updates:

- Security Update for Windows XP (KB908519)
- Security Update for Windows XP (KB912919)

Afterwards, the BB Desktop Manager (4.1 for 8700c) would crash when I started my computer. It would even crash the first few attempts at manually starting the BB Desktop Manager. Eventually, the program would start, but what a hassle. The Microsoft Website suggests that it's RIM's fault and problem to deal with... surprise there!!

Nevertheless, I uninstalled both updates and everything seems to be working properly again. I'll post here if I find that I am still having problems, but I believe everything is okay after uninstalling the updates.

I just wanted to let others know in case they ran into the same issue. If others have a fix rather than uninstalling the updates, please post.

I did the same, I dont use the Security updates from Windows, I use Norton Internet security. It flagged a string or something that said there was a possible malicious script?!?! Dont quite remember. The first time i quit and and then when i tried it again everything went smoothly.

Could have been a conflict with your updates

Yeah... after removing the updates (and it could have been just one and not the other but I didn't feel like figuring this out), everything worked as it should. Ah well...
