Default 7520: Reconciliation Problems

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

I've looked around but I can't find much on this issue. Anyway, I've noticed that my "Reconcile Now" option on the menu in the Messages section has disappeared. Furthermore, if I go to "Options" in that same menu and select "Email Reconciliation", I'm presented with a blank screen with the title "Email Reonciliation". Where'd the options go? It was there for awhile, but then disappeared. All I have on this thing in terms of messages are emails, SMSes I've received, and appointments (I actually just cleared them out). I have no idea what's going on.

Details:
BlackBerry 7520 v4.0.0.234 (Platform 1.4.0.37)

If anyone can lend a hand it'd be most appreciated. If you need anymore information, just let me know.

Cheers,
Duncan

I had issues with it disappearing in that version of the OS as well, if you don't want to take the 4.1 plunge, you should install the 4.0.2 version of the OS as it is much more stable then the first release for the 7520.

sounds like you need to redo enterprise activation. your admin needs to set a activation password for you.

Also, I suggest upgrading to handheld OS 4.1. great stuff

Wonderful. I've never put a new OS on a BlackBerry before, so, this should be interesting. Will I lose all my info/contacts/etc. when I do this?

The latest OS version for the 7520 is 4.0.2.37 App Version 1.4.0.48 (Packaged as 4.02.54).
If you use Outlook as your primary application for data then your data will still be fine but during the install process you have the option of backing up and restoring data depending on what you have on the unit.

Ok, I updated to 4.0.2 (that's the highest update I could find for my Telus 7520). My "Reconciliation Options" screen STILL shows the same blank screen, and the "Reconcile Now" option in the menu under Messages is STILL gone. What's going on? What more can I do?

And FYI, I'm not on a BES. This BlackBerry just uses the account setup by the provider (Telus).

If it doesn't use a BES then there's a good chance you may never see it. The web connect I think sends you emails every 5 minutes as the accounts are checked. Reconcile now is synching all items in synched folders, not sure it works that way with BWC.

If you would like to use the nextel 4.1 OS on your telus BB, you can do so easily, if you just download the software from the link provided by morpheous ( OR here: https://www.blackberry.com/Downloads...B9D5EE16489088 )

I think you'd be much happier with the 4.1 software as the OS is much more responsive, boots faster, better connectivity, etc..... I have been running it for a week now and see no reason to go back.

Well, thing is I know for a fact that without BES it *does* show up. And, regardless, I'm pretty sure the "Reconciliation Options" screen shouldn't show up as blank. My co-workers are running the same setup as me and their options show up just fine.

What's the difference between the Telus and Nextel versions of the OS? I'm curious as to why there are two different OSes for the same phone. Is it branding? Or is it something else? There has to be some interesting reason if Telus doesn't have 4.1 released yet (at least as far as I can tell).

In the meantime, if anyone has any other ideas as to how to rectify this problem, I'm all ears.

The problem is this: My mailbox is full on the server and I think that, by default or some option that was set, whenever I delete messages off my BlackBerry, it doesn't delete them off the server. I was told that in order to delete messages off the server I had to set some option in the "Email Reconciliation" options screen. So, I guess the answer is I'm trying to reconcile against the email account hosted by my provider, Telus.

You are correct, you should be able to reconcile the deleted messages.

The difference between the Nextel and the Telus is nothing at this point. If Telus decided to load different default apps, that may be, but nothing else. The releases come out for the carriers when the carrier "approves" them. You should have no problems running the nextel version on your BB. I would reccomend though based on your descripton of the problem you're having is that I would NOT do a backup and restore of your device, rather I would sync it with your desktop to have a good sync point for contacts and calendar and such. Then just delete all data on the BB and set it up on your web account by resending the service books. Then you have a fresh start and a clean configuration.

Give it a shot..

when you delete messages on the bb are you deleting them one by one or deleting all at once if you are doingthe later then its not going to delete on the bwc I found that out the hard way you have to delete one at a time. I also set my bwc to not keep any messages over a 5 days

All right, I'll try the 4.1 upgrade soon. Hopefully my workday doesn't kill me too much today. I'll get back to you guys when I give it a try; I'll also make a note not to do a backup. Cheers!

Well, I downloaded and installed the 4.1 update, went to the Application Loader, and it gives me the applications as well as the 4.0.2 update (but greyed out since I've already updated it). However, there is no option to update to 4.1 in that screen at all. What's going on? I apologize for being a newb in these matters, but, how do I get the 4.1 update onto my handheld? If I go to Help->About (or whatever), it says I have the 4.0.2 and 4.1 updates installed...But I know it's not on my handheld because it didn't go through the same update operation as last time via the Application Loader.
Help?
