I have been using ACT for years (since the old DOS version). I am currently using ACT 6.0 and have not upgraded to the new ACT 2006 because I don't need some of the new features. I use Companion Link to sync ACT with my Blackberry and it works just fine. http://www.companionlink.com/faq/bbconfig.html#q1

I have tried Companion Link with 2500+ contacts and 600+ tasks with ACT 6.0. Performance is terrible; it took an hour to sync. Are you experiencing the same performance hit?

The first time you sync, it can take a long time, or if you have made lots of changes in your contacts and tasks, it can take some time. After the initial sync, it should not take that long, although it certainly is not super fast.
What OS version is on your blackberry? There are different configuration settings for versions 3.8 - 4.01 (Blackberry/RIM Direct) and versions 3/7 - 4.02 (Blackberry/RIM). Check the Companionlink website for info on configuring your BB.
I'm not sure about all of the differences between Companionlink and Intellicync syncing - I have always used Companionlink since my Palm days. I believe it gives you more options in deciding what to transfer to the BB.

This morning, I went to CompanionLink website, and downloaded a trial version of Companionlink for Act! for the Blackberry.

I installed CompanionLink, and set it up to synch with my Blackberry calendar, contacts, notes, and tasks. Setup was pretty straight forward, and CompanionLink has a set up section to set the path between Act! and Blackberry contact data fields.

After synching for the first time, my approximately 500 contacts transferred to my Blackberry. Everything except my contacts' home addresses transferred as I expected. However, none of my contacts' home addresses appeared with those contacts on my Blackberry. I double-checked the map fields section in CompanionLink, found the links to set business addresses, but could not find a setting for home addresses.

After searching the CompanionLink website tech support section, and not finding a solution, I sent an email to CompanionLink Tech Support. Their reply was
I find that very strange. Needless to say, I am unistalling that software, and will look for another solution.
