Default Format 7290 OS?

Please Login to Remove!

Is it possible to wipe the OS clean and start over all fresh?

I have a AT&T 7290 BB that has been unlocked to work on the Cingular network.

I know its a silly reason but the phone has all the AT&T icons and what not in it and I just want to have all the Cingular stuff. I know its stupid.

I tried the option to reset it but all that does is wipe any info I have on top of the OS, off.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Click the link in my signature for JL_Cmder. This utility will allow you to wipe the OS. When you Reinstall the Cingular OS you will need to delete the vendor.xml file or it wont work. This file makes it so a Cingular OS can only install on a Cingular BB.

So I assume that the option I want to choose is the "Wipe" option?

Then once thats done just hook it back up to the Desktop Manager and tell it to install the Cingular OS? Of course after I have deleted the vendor.xml file.

Yes, choose wipe. Stonent is correct, you can not remove the AT&T branded splash screen on startup. But you can remove any AT&T theme related items by installing the Cingular OS. They may be replaced by Cingular themes.

How do you unlock the BB? I have a Vodafone 7290 that i want to use for a T-mobile account. I tried the wipe and reload but everything still looks like vodafone and it says the SIM is invalid.

Well, I could suggest you use the "search" feature and look for one of the literally hundreds of threads on unlocking, but people will yell at me.

It is NOT free.. Good luck.
