i just got this old blackberry R900/1800G-2/1-4 (5820) and wondering if i could upgrade it from 3.2.2.97 to 3.6 and where could i get the software for it. im kinda new in this device. please help. thanks.

The 5820 is really, really old. Check with your carrier on where to get the latest code...

i just got this from a friend.,since im more into functionality and Blackberry is not that popular here in the philippines (as of today), the Handheld came from O2. and a CD is included. thanks anyway mate. i will still try to look for files. thanks again...

You can download the 3.6 for 5810 software from Cingular and delete the Vendor.XML file. The 5800 series phones can all use the software.

Hello everyone, I'm a recent convert from the Palm OS to the Blackberry when I got a 5810 from an officemate of mine.

The good thing about it is, the blackberry has all the necessary PIM that I actually need (calendar, memopad and to do list) aside from the SMS and phone, that's all I used the Treo I had before.

Anyways, I have successfully upgraded the Desktop Manager all the way up to version 4.0 and the handheld software all the way up to version 1.4.73.0. (I used a Vodafone upgrade download from the blackberry site after I did a Google search) is this the most I could go?

I read here that I could download the Cingular upgrade (which I did) and just download the Vendor.XML file.

Here's the scenario, I'm using a local mobile subscriber here in the Philippines and do not have a Blackberry Account, I just use the Blackberry for PIM functions, SMS and as a phone. I use my laptop to do email and internet through WiFi anyways :D So this means that I could not download any upgrade from any service provider.

A couple of questions though;

1. How and where do I delete the vendor.xml file?
2. Will there be any visible changes to the UI?
3. When I upgraded the HH software from 1.0.1.1-something to 1.4.73.0 the browser icon in the ribbon disappeared, did I do something wrong?
