Ok, new to BB, trying to install desktop software.

Read the 3 results that came up, and as a result updated windows installer to 3.1 v2, and scripting to 5.6.

I'm running windows xp home edition. I have disabled firewall, and antivirus programs. When I start the desktop install, I get to the Welcome screen, click next, get the Country/Region selection screen, then when I click next, I get a "windows has encountered an error...yadayada." The error is MSIEXEC.EXE and then the installer shuts down. I tried downloading the software from the website and still the same thing. Any thoughts?

Check the event log of your PC for any logged problems that might have happened during the install. Also, try deleting your temp directories (system and user). Finally reboot before attempting to install again.

Actually was able to install 3.6 desktop, so maybe tonite if I'm feeling bold I'll try doing an upgrade, see if that works.

Where are you trying to download Desktop Manager from? You can probably get it from a number of other places. This may help if the file you are attempting to download is corrupt.
