Default Desktop Redirector and Security

Please Login to Remove!

So just how secure is the Desktop Redirector? My company has OWA support, however I find the access to be slow on my 7105t.

Currently, I'm forwarding only headers via Desktop Redirector (for notification) and then reading via OWA (HTTPS). Ideally, I'd like to use the redirector for all message access. I have not been able to find any documentation on the security model for redirector, which prevents me from going 100% with this solution.

Additionally, if I reply from the BB to a message, is that transaction encrypted as well? I notice they arrive with a "(Secure)" tag, however replies don't.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Well the BlackBerry Desktop redirector uses an Outlook MAPI profile. Is your internal LAN not secure enough? All traffic between Redirector and HH, BES and HH, or BIS and HH is encrypted.

Redirector traffic is not 128 DES encrypted. Using the browser and OWA is not secure either - technically - you may be using a username/password but the wireless connection is not secure.
