Default Moving to BES and have a question.

Please Login to Remove!

I work for a small company that is growing rapidly. We are planning a server upgrade for our email system and to install BES in the near future and we are trying to determine the hardware we are going to need.
Here goes.

Can BES and Exchange be run on the same server? If not, is it not possible at all or is it just not recommeded as a best practice? The people in charge of the budget would like to get away with only buying a single new server but I would prefer two different servers.

Secondly, if we buy a new server to run BES and set it up to use our current email server, how hard is it to get BES associated with the new mail server after we migrate over to it?

Thanks.

It is recommended that BES be a separate server. AAMOF, it is recommended that nothig else share the server with Exchange.

You don't need much hardware. I have 10 BB and my BES runs on a workstation class P4 3.0GHZ with 512MB RAM and a 40GB HDD. I have w2k3 on it, but I've read on this forum that it is possible to run BES on Win XP.

Blackberry newbie so please bear with me if this is a daft question...

We run SBS2003 and our IT people tell us that we need a separate server to run BES Express.

We have a spare XP Pro workstation but our IT guys say BES Express won't work on this - is this the case? Do we need to go down the route of upgrading the OS on the spare workstation to Server 2003?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks
