Default Unknown icon in my 8700 Status bar

Please Login to Remove!

I have a icon to the right if my mail count in the status bar that looks like the digit '1' and a little globe to the right of it.

Has anyone any idea what it is? Cingular asked me to reset the device...

Thanks

It sounds like this might be part of BB's push service typically used for weather updates etc.

Could be indeed as that icon is actually a globe. Also possible that it is Blackberry Messenger. That's sort of globe-like.

Thanks,

I don't think I have anything installed that would be push related - would that come from an installed application?

The only thing I have that could be it is Google Talk? Though its not running

Could it be the "saved web page icon?"

No that sounds like it - but where do I access this page - In the message list - from the web browser?

I'll play around a bit more

That's definitely the data push icon. I have mine setup to push weather updates to my BB, and the icon is the little globe with a number. Depending on how you set it up, it either comes into the inbox as a line item that will bring up the web page when you select it. The other method is a link I think, but I'm not entirely sure, since I didn't set mine that way.

I believe you can get to the page using the Internet Browser but the actual URL escapes me. I think you can find it from one of the main pages where you download the themes, etc.

I had a couple of saved web pages in my messages - when I deleted them the globe disapeared

I'm sure pushed content shows in the same format in the inbox. Hence the notification icon.

Thank you all.

ps Do I really have to write my own theme to manipulate Icons on the home screen (such as move then into folders or create URL icons)
