nope... nothin lately. Word in the AT&T forums was supposed to be this month, but now were not sure. I just installed the HK version myself, and had no problems with it.

I'm using the more recent and seemingly more reliable Vodafone 7290 software.

Plus, it has a rather nice theme it installed!

What about the Delete on: Handheld (for Desktop) option in email reconciliation? In v3.8, if you set it to mailbox & handheld, it would change back to handheld after the next reconciliation. It was supposed to be fixed in this release (I'm using HK v4), but it's actually worse. Now when I change it and save, it immediately reverts back to just handheld.

Talldog,

What BES are you running? I'm running 4.0 Hotfix 1 and HK 40 on my 7290 and my reconciliation selection problem went away.

Do you have an AT&T 7290? Cause i'm curious how well this will work on that BB.

You can also install the Rogers 4.0 for 7290 on the AT&T/Cingular 7290.
Just make sure you delete the VENDOR.XML file.

Is this OS any better than vodafone 4.0? Is it more stable?

I don't think so, did u try restarting the unit and/or pulling out the battery and then putting it back in to reset the BB. That may get it working again. You may have to downgrade until you can find someone whom can explain why your phone isn't working.

Hope that helps.

Yes, I tried restarting the device...same issue. I am going to try and reload the OS this morning.

I fixed it this morning! I repaired the OS and selected "Phone". For some reason the phone component didn't install by default with the 4.0 upgrade.

Rogers 4.xx (Beta) seems to work fine on my Cingular 7290. You may want to try it if you have additional problems.

Why is the 7290 the only device that blackberry has not released the 4.0 handheld software for?

I'm reluctant to use 3rd party software for this. I'd prefer to stay with the official software from RIM.

Oh they have it, have had it for a long time, I can't yet understand how they just sit and hold on to this stuff, release it a couple months old only to still find problems. It's really not RIM, it's the carrier, so your question would be "Why is the 7290 the only device that CINGULAR has not released the 4.0 handheld software for?"

Welcome to politics and red tape

Does anyone have any inside info on when cingular and AT&T are going to release that software? I don't want to upgrade our BES to 4.0 until the new Handheld OS software is out and ready to go.

Nothing currently... I've tried 3 different vendor versions and have finally stuck with Rogers 4.0 beta version. I couldn't wait for the official AT&T/Cingular version so I decided try another OS, and so far Rogers 4.0 has worked for me.

I'm using Vodaphone's 4.0 on my Cingular 7290 (with a T-Mobile SIM no less). No problems so far over here. Looks like Cingular just released 4.0 as well...
