Default Upgraded to Outlook 2003, now contacts won't sync

Please Login to Remove!

Using BB 7100t. Synched fine with Outlook 2000.

Just upgraded to Outlook 2003 and tasks sync but contacts aren't synching.

I'm running Desktop version 4.

It runs through sync process, but nothing syncs up.

The log says:

"total inputs from first system: 0"
Then says "internal error 4198"

Any ideas?

David

Try deleting and then adding a new Outlook profile. Error 4198 usually indicates that Intellisync can not read the Outlook profile.

I'm running Windows XP, so went to control panel to delete then added a new profile (under my name). Old profile was named: 'microsoft outlook internet settings'.

Rebooted and still get same error message. My task list syncs up, but addresses and memos give me error.

Any other ideas?

BTW, now I'm wondering if I should have just stuck with Outlook 2000.

Thanks,

David

Check out KB-01808 in the RIM knowledgebase.

No way, dude!! Outlook 2003 is very cool, and it works fine with the BBs around here.

Desktop Manager 4.0 doesn't seem to like to work with Outlook2003 without you first downloading Service Pack 2 for WindowsXP. That's the only time I've run into that issue with customers.

Did you install the Contact Manager portion of Outlook 2003? The BlackBerry desktop software, Intellisync and Contact Manager don't play well together. I had to uninstall the Business Contact Manager using the Add/Remove Programs function and then the sync worked. Just a thought here...

I looked in the Add/Remove programs and didn't see the Business Contact Manager listed.

I'm running Service pack 2 on this machine.

How do I get that specific RIM knowledgebase article? I got to the knowledge base (I think) but couldn't just put in an article number.

For some reason, putting the article number in the search bar doesn't return anything, but if you go to Advanced search and type it in, you'll find it. Also, if you put 4198 in the main search bar, you'll find it.

Thanks,
Found it last night.

I sort of fixed my problem. I just "reset" intellisync by choosing 'none' for each category, saving, closing, then restarting desktop manager.

At this point it is syncing up at least.

Thanks,

David

You guys are the best!! I got past my ordeal with this by just choosing the 'Reset Configuration' button on the IntelliSync GUI window, re-selecting the things I wanted to have synchronized, and then just synchronized the PIM.

Worked like a charm!!

Thanks for the great information!
