I'm currently using the Bharti (4.1.0.284) OS, on an 8700C, on the T-Mobile network (in the US). Yes, my BB is very confused! =P

Anyway, now that T-Mo has released the 8700G, I figure they have to have a BB OS software download for the 8700 series BB and I'm wondering if I should switch over or not.

A few specific questions I would like answered, if possible please:
  • What is the "latest" version of the BB OS and which carrier is it from?
  • Does the latest T-Mo version include and allow the use of the Zen theme?
  • What are the differences between the Bharti OS and the T-Mo OS?
  • I heard that with some of the later versions of BBOSes, the shortcut keys from the homescreen no longer work. Is this the case with the T-Mo BB OS?

Obviously, any other feedback/suggestions on what I should do with the OS would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Here's the link. Choose the 8700g and click on "Do I need this software?' Then upgrade it following the instructions listed. http://www.t-mobile.com/bbupgrade/

Enter your phone number to be able to download the upgrade. It will work.

Thanks for the link, but I was hoping more for ideas about whether I should/should not switch OSes and why.
My primary concerns are that I want to keep using the Zen theme and I want to keep the keyboard shortcuts from the homescreen. Obviously, I wouldn't want to switch if it causes performance degradation either... Things like that...

- Latest is Telstra's .309.
- Yes, if you delete the Vendor.xml file and replace with the proper Blackberry.alx file (provided elsewhere in the forum).
- Tmo's includes multilanguage support. That's about the only difference.
- Nope. .284 is same in both cases.

You don't need to upgrade unless you need multilanguage support.

Also, many have had issues with the Telstra OS. Other's haven't. If you like Zen and are happy with your Bharti, I wouldn't tempt fate and try something different in this case.

Good choice. I had a huge issue with my BB over the last 2 weeks where I would have a negative number of email in one of my email folders. I had to wipe my device last night and I started from scratch and I had to reload all of my contacts on BB Messenger one by one but I no longer have the negative email issue. My carrier's OS is working fine now.
