Red face re-installing after wiping

Please Login to Remove!

Hello everybody. I'm new in this forum. Please to meet you all.

I wiped my BB 7230 with "javaloader -usb wipe".
Then I opened the Desktop Manager to re-install the System software on the device, but the DM does not list the modules to install.
IT seems the DM doesn't want to work any more.

I reinstalled the DM twice. Still doesn't work

Please help. Now my device is totally wiped and empty.

Thanks and Ciao
Mic

Have you downloaded the latest version of the handheld OS from your carrier?

You must download the software, and then install it on the PC.

Then locate and delete "VENDOR.XML" on your C: drive.

The locations for all of the handheld OS software is at HTML email on 7730

Good luck!

I already had the Desktop Manager provided in the original CD from our carrier.
Previously I could exchenge modules from the DM and the device with that version of the DM.

Do carriers distribuite the Handheld' system through the Desktop Manager. Right?

I'm in Italy. My carrier is TIM. But I don't think I have to reinstall the DM thye gave me. Do I?

Ciao

There are two pieces of software, Desktop Manager, which you have and the Handheld Operating System, which is not distributed by the carriers on the CD. You have to download it.

You can either check on the TIM website for the Handheld OS for your particular BlackBerry, or you can check out the link I gave you above.

What do you think I have to download from this list?

Are you sure the link you gave me about is the right one?

Thanks

Typo...

BlackBerryOS 4.x Download FAQ - UPGRADE DOWNLOADS

The web site you listed has a very old version of the handheld manager. The latest version (available from several carriers) is 4.0.0.185.

ALl of the software is written by RIM. Tested by the different carriers.

OK, I see.

I think that TIM stopped to follow RIM developement since BBs have not had a good coommercial luck in Italy.

Now I see your link. I visited it.

Now I unistalled the DM and I wiped all values "Reasearch in Motion" in the Windows registry. So both my device and my Computer are cleaned and wiped concerning RIM stuff.

Do you think I can start over installing other vendors OS and DM ?
I would pick T-Mobile's one since I have to go to USA next month.
Do you think it is a good idea or do I have to install the old 3.7 version my vendor provides?

Thanks
Mic

You didn't need to wipe out Desktop Manager, but no problem.

Get Desktop Manager from the RIM web site. They have the latest version at http://www.blackberry.com - go into the support section.

Then download the 4.0 from T-Mobile. It will work on your BB. If you do not like it, then you can wipe the BB (again) download the 3.7 software and use that!

Ok. Are these the steps:
1. Download from Blackberry.com and install 41112dtMULT.exe
2. delete the VENDOR.XML file
3. Download from T-Mobile the "Handheld Software bundle Version (4.0.0.185)"
5. reboot my PC and run the Desktop Manager
6. Load the OS listed in Application Loader

Is that correct? I ask for confirmation because I already did it many times.
Now it is going to be the first time with Windows Registry clean.

Let's see what happens

Thanks

Done. It does not work!
The application loader says that ther is not System software to in stall.
Simply the modules list is empty.

I don't know what to do. I did all this so many times today.

Do you want to see the vendor.xml and the device.xml files?

Done. It works now.
I had to delete fro the second time the vendor.xml file.

Now I have 4.0 installed. But I don't if it is usefull since my BB is not under Enterprise Blackberry server, but it's simply a WebClient.

Anyway thank you very much
