Is there anything I should do or know before attempting the update besides backing up everything I "can backup" .


Should I attempt installing the 8707 software ?


I'm thinking about also updating the Desktop Manager to 4.1.1 as well.


Or should I hold out for 5.0 on both platforms(PC/BB) .

ALL kind thoughts welcome.

BTW I have 2 7290'S

Both have A ton of software on them.

One of them allready has 4.1.0.256

The other 4.0.149? I think…

Just as a matter of general principle, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

I can't tell you how many late nights and weekends I've spent trying to un-do software upgrades (self-inflicted) when I should have left well enough alone.

Well it is broke actually.



Both units have allot of small and anoying problems.



One big problem is that …



On the unit with the 4.1.0.256 ROM ...



Don't ask me how but I overwrote the damned default theme wich screwed up the phone app so now I don't have the incoming outgoing phone indications showing correctly -or at all for that matter.





And the biggest problem is bloat ...



I've installed sooo much stuff I don't need and most of which I will never use at the present "quarter "in time" that it is rediculouse.



What A mess I say anyways.



Last but not least if I do Flash/Update I can reinstall any trial software that my time limit has run out with.



(Anything that is "Local AND localy Balloon time fixed") anyways.

You can not install the handheld software for the 8707 on your 7290, its not possible. You need to download the software specific for your 7290. Sorry, I don't know what version is the absolute latest. I would grab the one that is available from your carrier. Upgrading to Desktop Manager 4.1.1 should not be a problem. Don't wait for 5.0 on either, unless you have a lot of time on your hands.
