Default Opera Mini and the big deal?

Please Login to Remove!

I have been reading what software most people carry on their blackberry and noticed that one that was repetitive was Opera Mini. I am trying to figure out why that program is such a big deal when you get the same feature by using your web browser or Berry 411. Can anyone really explain what I am missing here? I saw the full list of great software, and I added a few, but the one that I REALLY wish there was is an expense tracker that would let me customize the fields to fit my exact corporate expense report, so that when I entered it in, I could then convert it to excel and send it that way. Anyone know if anything like this exists? Thanks for the help.

The reason I like Mini Opera, it allows me to access sites that my nroaml browser cannot handle.

yeah opera mine can handle such sites as myspace and many others that the regular browser will not allow you to access.

Night and freakin' day, man. Pages generally render with a more true representation of their intended look. Pages are compressed in a way that better limits the data you d/l. Up here on Rogers bandwidth = $$ (don't get me started on 25meg cap!)
Don't get me wrong, mini is far from perfect. Having said that, I boot that browser more than any other

I love it but does anyone know how to go on the top after you are the bottom of the page by Spacing-spacing.. Regular Browser take Sfht-Space as page up and Space as page-down

Starts up almost immediately (vs. Internet browser) and is faster displaying the sites I frequent most. The difference in perceptible display speed can be night and day on occassion.

Neither browser is perfect. In some cases, the BB Browser is faster in rendering sites, in others, Opera Mini is faster. I do like that Opera does render sites closer to their native appearance than others, but if you have a slow connection, ii.e. GPRS, it can take forever for those sites to fully appear, and Opera won't let you navigate the page until it is fully rendered. I do wish that Opera had a way to flush the cache, but there are times when Opera is better than the BB Browser, and you can't beat the price.

Foner,
your "s" button trick did not work.. I tried .. looks like Q, I, P and Space bar buttons are the only ones which are config'ed for Opera.

Hmmm. Strange on my 8700r the "s" button is equiv. to page up. And on my wife's 7290 it is the "a" button.

I cannot get the Opera browser to work. I have an 8700C on Cingular and have never gotten on with it. I have tried everything I can think of...Anyone have any ideas?

If you have T-mobile, it may or may not work because of the way T-mobile network is setup.

I have it but it does not work on my cell phone. Even after fixing the TCP which someone suggest.

I have heard a few people got it to work on their T-mobile.

I am with TMO and it works fine.. it is just the shortcuts that do not work and that has nothing to do with the provider

Just downloaded this and so far it works great. Web pages look much better than they did on the BB browser.
