Angry BlackBerry Desktop Manager Causes Windows to hang on shutdown

Please Login to Remove!

I don't restart my computer everyday...but sometime in the past week my computer hangs (for at least 35 minutes...the longest I have waited) everytime a shutdown is attempted. I've had my BB for about 10 days now.

I tried removing recent programs (including the desktop manager) but nothing fixed the issue. I then tried to reinstall Windows. No fix. So last night I reformatted my hard drive. This morning I began re-installing applications, shutting down after each one to see if I could find the culprit. I did...the culprit is the BB desktop software. It must be software related, as I have yet to connect my device (7130e) to the computer.

So has anyone had this issue? Know of a fix? Because I would be pretty pissed to have to ditch the BB because of this, but I will.

Thanks....

Well, weird...I reinstalled it on my second partition and now no problems. Not sure why that would make a difference, but I blame Microsoft ;)

I know this thread is an old one, but I just ran into the same thing. Running XP SP2 and just installed Desktop Software 4.2 SP2. It seems to run fine and the first time I hook my BB up it sees it. I have installed an app using it. If I disconnected my BB and then try and connect it again it wont recognize it. I have the 8830 w/ a MSD card and it wont prompt for mass storage enable either.

When I try and reboot my computer, it goes part way to where all icons on the screen go away and just sits there forever showing the background. If I uninstall the software everything is fine. The mass media connect works everytime too. Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Installed the 4.2 SP2 Desktop fresh with new 8820 bb and have the same issue above with the bb services not shutting down after I sync and close the desktop manager. When I shut down Windows XP SP2 two different bb services hang. Has anyone had and fixed this issue. I tried reinstalling but have the same problem.

Thanks
