Default 7520 software won't load - 507

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a used 7520 from Ebay and it was functioning slowly and it said the battery was dead so I swapped my good 7250 battery into it and it said that one was dead as well. I couldn't explain it, I knew the 7250 battery was fine, it had full bars in my other Blackberry. So I tried charging it and after an hour it still said it was dead. So decided to reload the software on it.
It had the 4.0 software so I downloaded the 4.1 software and tried to load that on. It got to the part where it loads the radio software, and stopped. It gavce an error saying it couldn't complete and told me to ensure the battery in the unit was charged and to check some other things. I tried 4 different batteries and it's saying that with all of them. And now, the unit has the 507 displayed on it because there's no software on the device. So then I downloaded 4.0, the software that was on it originally, and tried to load that with the exact same problem. It wouldn't go on either. It always gets to the same point in the loading and quits with that error. I'm trying to load the software via the Application Loader of the 4.1 Desktop software. Could my device be toast? It was working this morning.....slow, but it was working. Or could it just need a good overnight charge?

This is the error.

Unable to communicate with the radio hardware. Please ensure that a charged battery is installed in the device and try the loading operation again. [P:0x0000000F]

Looks like a lot of other people have had this issue but they were somehow able to load the software back on. There is no way in hell I can get it to go past the loading of the radio software in Application loader, it fails everytime. I must have tried 30 times with all kinds of different versions of the handheld software and Desktop Manager. Versions 3.6, 4.0, 4.1, service packs, they don't work. Is my Blackberry cooked? I only got it 12 hours ago.

I'd send it back for a refund if possible. If you are having this much of an issue on day 1, it doesnt look good.

AHHHHHHHHHHH! I GOT IT ON EBAY!

haha, the 1 year warranty expired last month but the 15 month manufacturer warranty is still good so I'm going to see what I can do through RIM. I'm pretty sure loading the software onto it cooked the radio hardware in the device so I think it's done. I need to talk to a few dealers I'm friends with.

I posted with this same problem... you can try Javaloader.exe... that actually successfully loaded all the softare on my 7520, however, mine still would say "Reload Radio Software" after I did that... and if I tried to upgrade firmware from there... it would just round robin back to the 507 error and I would have to go back into DOS and run the Javaloader all over again.

It never did connect to my Radio hardware and someone else posted that my BB was toast... fortunately... it's not mine

But did the rest of the software load when you did that?

This is what happens when you buy junk off Ebay. If the item is broken return it back to the seller as he or she misrepresented at the time of the sale and demand your month back otherwise use it as a door stop!

I tried, the seller sold it as working but somewhere in the sale put "selling AS IS." I thought nothing of it if he said it was working, and when I received it in the mail, this csucker tries to tell me it has to be plugged into the wall or else it won't stay on, and he's free because he sold it "AS IS." I *****ed him up and down for being an ass but couldn't get my $120 back. I then tried to sell it on Ebay (full stating the problems) and the buyer then tried to cheat me out of paying shipping and handling since it wasn't anywhere in the invoice I sent him except in the OTHER field. Man, Ebay is full of thieves. And when they get pissed off for no reason, they leave you negative feedback for the hell of it.

You have to learn that when you sell anything on ebay that you must clearly state the cost of the shipping. Say "shipping is based on the box size the item is packaged in, the weight and the destination its going to" in big letters in your posting otherwise as you will find poeple are dumb!
