I just got my BB on 7/17... I love it! But it often 'freezes' (the screen fades then goes blank) and I have to remove the battery to restart it and I have no idea why. Then if it is idle for a bit and it doesn't 'freeze', I get errors like "Prefetch Exception" or "Abort Exception" and gives me a 'Reset' button and that will bring it back usually. It's the freezing that really bugs me, its already done that at least 5 times in the last 6 hours.

You may or may not lose the data. I have wiped out the device software and reinstalled many times, I noticed that some apps save the data but some don't. Just remember to do a backup before attempting the reload.

mine has been doing that as well, did reinstalling the OS work?

when you load the handheld os, it asks whether or not to back up everything. i have done it and did not lose anything.
maybe also try holding ALT then L G L G
then clear log. my bb wasnt locking up, but it did seem to improve performance a little.
