Default Doing Address Book Searches from Phone

Please Login to Remove!

I just upgraded my boss's 7250 to the handheld OS. He used to be able to go to Phone, start typing keys on his keypad and have it automatically do a search in his address book. It doesn't do this any more.

He can get to it by scroll-wheel clicking and selecting Call From Address Book, but he's used to not having to go through that trouble just to do a simple address book search.

I checked all the options and couldn't find one that enables this functionality. Is this "feature" no longer available in the new OS or is there some option / property that I haven't come across? And if this isn't a standard feature, is there some third party software that allows this that maybe got wiped when I did his upgrade?

It was a standard feature that apparently got deleted in the upgrade to 4.1.x.xx. It's not a problem for those BBs that have a Phone or Send button as if you press and hold that key slight longer than normal you get the search by typing feature. For the other BBs it causes the problem you posted. I read here that someone had found the solution for those BBs but never saw it confirmed.

Sorry, I'm not much help on this one.

Thanks for the "fix". I missed that feature. Now it is just a delayed keypress away!
