Default No "new mail" indicator or count any longer

My 7130e used to flash and show the number of new emails that had arrived. The light no longer flashes except when my daily weather report arrives, and the Blackberry no longer shows the number of unread messages.

Any idea which setting I need to change?
Thanks.

Did you turn it off by mistake?

While in messages hit the track wheel and go to options. Under general options you will see setting for this display. See if that's it.
