Question Desktop Manager - Language

Please Login to Remove!

I am running Desktop Manager 4.1.0.10 and have checked and rechecked all the language settings and still have some wording showing up in a different language that I do not recognize. It is still functional, but an annoyance. I recently installed the same version on a friends computer and everything on his install shows up in this language. Some of the examples of the popup box (while syncing) are: "masaustu kuruluyr" (on the menu) and "Intellisync Kullinici kuruluyr" in the progress bar.

Look familiar to anyone or does anyone know how to put this back to english?

Thanks in advance for the help!

PS - On the friends install, even the ok, cancel and apply button in his Desktop Manager were scrambled.

I am experiencing the same issues after my OS update. Intellisync seems to have mixed the languages somehow. I am on Verizon with a 7250.
Who is your carrier and which BB model are you using?

I am on T-Mobile with the 8700.

The phone that my friend was having the same error on was Nextel with the 7100i.

I, too have this problem.

I have been using the Blackberry Desktop Manager version 4.0.xxx with the 7230 and Outlook 2003 and had no problems for several years. Recently acquired the 7290, and upgraded the desktop manager to 4.1, all with T-Mobile. This upgrade and addition is when I started seeing language problems. In the Intellisync setup, it LOOKS like Outlook is configured in a different language, but then the field mappings show the handheld devices with field names in something that looks Scandinavian, or out of the South Pacific, or maybe central Africa. Each blackberry is using a slightly different language. It also changed a couple of calendar data fields that I can't remember and can't find at the moment to cite here.

I checked every setting I could possibly think of in the desktop manager, both of the handhelds, and in MS Outlook. THIS IS VERY ANNOYING to see when there are conflicts to check or resolve in the sync. I also reinstalled 4.1 (twice) and tried rebooting both devices and computer. Anyone got any more ideas?

I have reinstalled version 4.1 twice. Now about to try the latest english (not multilanguage) download from blackberry.com (not sure what version it is beyond 4.1 sp1).

I did not see any option to select language the first 2 times, but dang sure I would have selected english if I saw it.

Ok the latest one that I just installed is 4.1.1.9 (was on 4.1.0.10). I still get the partial language gibberish, even though I only downloaded the english version and selected english during the install. The language is still unknown, though it still has a lot of accented letters and a higher preponderance of Y's.

I'm having the same problem on a brand new computer with a fresh OS, fresh Office install, and fresh DM install (I tried both the english-only and multi-language versions, selected english all the way through). Any resolution so far?

Even if there isnt, I've been afraid to proceed with a sync for fear of screwing up my data..does anyone know whether the language issue impacts how the data ends up either in outlook or on the BB?

Default Desktop Manager Language Problem

Dealt with this issue since I upgraded from BB 7100t to 8700g. I am
using Windows 2000 Professional SP4 and MS Office 2003. I tried the
Multi Language version 4.1.1.12dtMULTI on T-Mobile's site and the BB Desktop Manager 4.1.1.12 SP1 ENG on Blackberry.com. Finally walked through the process with
the BB/PDA Group through T-Mobile tech support.
1) Downloaded BB Desktop Mgr 4.1.1.12ENG SP1 from BB site.
2) Uninstall BB Desktop Manager
3) Export Backup Registry
4) HKEY Current User>Software> Remove Research In Motion folder
Remove Puma Technology folder
5) HKEY Local Machine>Software> Remove Research In Motion folder
Remove Puma Technology
folder (if present)
6) Delete Program Files>Research In Motion (if file ODSTRACE istll in
use after reboot remane the filder .old)
7) Reinstall Desktop Manager - Uncheck option to install DM in startup.
8) Aftrer DM Installed - from the Run command - regsrv32 atl.dll
9) Reboot
10) Configure Desktop Manager Intellisync

I have experienced this problem for many months now (BB 8700R) and the bad news is that neither Blackberry Support nor, in my case, Rogers Support, has a clue as to why my first two Intellisync message window titles are in Turkish. Rogers finally concluded it was spyware - NOT TRUE!
The good news is that I have never experienced a problem with my intellisync - eveything works perfectly.
Finally, the odd news is that I loaded the same version of Desktop Manager to my laptop and my Intellisyncs are completely in English.
Go figure!
