I am at a new employer and the boss says he used to be able to navigate an employee voicemail directory using the text keys on his old BB(7290).

(ie. when making a call to XYZ company and reaching their voicmail system empoyee directory, he would type S M I T H to get to Smith, not 76484.)

He now has an 8700 and says that he doesn't have that ability anymore. Do / did BB's have that functionality? I have a 7290, but upgraded to 4.1 and I can't get it to do that.

this question is in the wrong forum..............................BUT you can hold down the alt key and then all letters will be active. release the alt key to use numbers again.

I may not have phrased the question correctly.

Did any of the software versions generate DTMF tones for the whole keyboard?
