I have a 7290 running OS 3.8. Is there an advantage to go to OS 4.0 or can I run my 3.8 OS with Desktop 4.0 and what are the advantages of Desktop 4.0

BlackBerryOS 4.0 is slightly faster than BlackBerryOS 3.8 (which is essentially an early beta of BlackBerryOS 4.0).

You will get less call cut-offs if you've been getting your phone calls cut off in the middle of a call.

Also, you'll gain wireless synchronization if you use BES 4.0 .... And better attachment viewing (i.e. GIF, JPG, TIF, etc attachments) if you are not able to do this currently.

Also, moving this thread to RIM Software. This thread belongs over there.

OS 4.0 is not yet available for the 7290, not through AT&T and Cingular at least.

There are no advantages of running Desktop 4.0. I have Desktop 4.0 and Handheld 3.8 on my AT&T 7290 and have noticed that syncing is a little bit of an issue. I can't just connect and unconnect the 7290 like I used to on my 7280. It's not a huge deal but it gets annoying after a while.
