weird, i went in the programming of my 7750, and didn't notice those two fields.. have you called data support? they should help you out as well, since Aliant is part of the BWC.. 1-877-328-2123
does your phone component work? the "data connection refused" only shows if you are not on a RIM data plan.. but if you are on one, and still have this showing, then yeah, something's going on...
