Unhappy has my 6750 become a paperweight? - 08-08-2006, 12:39 PM

I have a 6750 that I bought used and used for a while and then upgraded to a 7250. My 7250 "cratered" yesterday and now I am waiting for the replacment unit. I thought I would re-activate my 6750 in the meantime so I could still have a phone and my email, but when I called Verizon, they told me that they could not turn on the 6750 because it was not E911 capable. Sigh. Does this mean the 6750 is totally worthless to anybody?

Wirelessly posted (Cingular 7130c: BlackBerry7130/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Yeah. New laws won't allow any phone that isn't E911 capable to be activated, and carriers have a deadline to have all of the phones on their network compatable.
