Default Negative Message Count: Update From RIM Rep - 08-12-2006, 01:04 PM

According to the RIM rep I just spoke with, this is a known issue. It affects only the "sub-account" message count, and not the main message indicator count. The bug has been fixed (he's running an as yet unreleased handset OS version, and doesn't have the issue) in what should be the next handset OS version deployed by T-Mobile. I advised him that I'm using the Telestra OS, which is newer than the current T-Mobile OS, so apparently the fix isn't in that release yet either. In any case, they're aware of it. The code is in place to fix it, and we should see the fix in an upcoming handset OS version. When the carrier deploys it, is of course, up to them.

Thanks for the update.

Give the even more recent Dobson Cellular/Cellular One package (4.1.0.346/2.0.0.143) for the 8700 a shot to see if that doesn't resolve the issue.

I suspect it might fix that issue, but reading further down the thread for that update, it seems there are other problems that come along with that release. Good thought though. Thanks.
