Default BlackBerry Browser RBRO Trick To Enable HTML - 08-17-2004, 07:08 PM

[Edit by Mark: This trick is no longer possible on BlackBerryOS 4.0]
[Edit by Mark: Topic renamed for clarity]

This was posted elsewhere, and its a solid solution for both BES blackberries and Non-BES Blackberries.

406 solution. It works!

(For BES admins only)
1)click on the WAP browser and choose options.
2)when you see Browser Config. and General Properties type the following.."RBRO" and four more options should popup.
3)Click on Browser Config again, scroll down to constrained content mode: Click on WML Only and change to Unconstrained.
4) Back out and Save the changes.
5)Click on Browser Config. one more time, and scroll down to Content Mode: and Click on WML Only and change to WML and HTML.
5)Back out and save changes.
Try Browser now, it should work!
wireless administration my arse.

I should warn that the RBRO hack is not available in the Version 4.0 of BlackberryOS.

Although the HTML browser will be enabled by default in 4.0 on several carriers at least, it appears that there is at least one user who only has the WAP browser with BlackberryOS 4.0 and the RBRO trick doesn't work for him. (It likely has have something to do with the service book).

Thanks,
Mark Rejhon

Using the RBRO code on my Nextel 7510 displays the additional menus, but doesn't allow me to "change option" on the fields neccessary. I have a demo plan, which is limited to email/wap only. Is there any way to change these fields in this situation?

You need to read the detailed explanation of how the RBRO hack works. There are 2 or 3 steps to follow before you can get the HTML feature enabled. Post if you still need more information.

Sorry to doubt you...but let's just make sure here...

3) Click on Browser Config, scroll down to CONSTRAINED CONTENT MODE: Click on WML Only and change to Unconstrained.

Is this number (3) working for you? Note that CONSTRAINED CONTENT MODE is different for CONTENT MODE -- use CONSTRAINED CONTENT MODE for this number (3) and CONTENT MODE for number (5) below

4) Back out and Save the changes.

Remember to back out to save the changes -- back out all the way to the Browser to be sure.

5) Click on Browser Config. one more time, and scroll down to CONTENT MODE: and Click on WML Only and change to WML and HTML.

Is this number (5) where the problem lies?

6)Back out and save changes.

No problem...number 3 should work...are you scrolling all the way to the bottom of the browser configuration page? I beleive it's the very last item on the page that needs to change...

I hope this works. I have to step out for an hour or two. I'll check back in when I get back. Good luck!!!

I have a 7730 (T-Mobile) and I'm not connected t the corporate BES yet. I tried the RBRO, got the 4 new options, but found that everyhting else was already set okay. I'm able to access html and WAP stuff no problem.

Now I just need to find a site that lists all the urls I really need in my bookmarks, pages set up for WAP or PDA viewing...
