Exclamation Cached Exchange mode - 08-17-2006, 12:35 PM

I am the IT for a law firm, and we are running BES, and the users have Outlook 2003. I have been having numerous wireless sync errors, and all of the answers I can find point to turning off Cached Exchange Mode.

The only problem is that if I do that, their Junk Mail comes into their Blackberry because you can't use Outlook's Junk Email filter with Cached Mode turned off. The users are complaining about Junk mail as it is, I don't need the added grief about the Junk Email filter.

So.... is there ANY version of the Blackberry software that will work with Outlook in Cached Exchange Mode?????????????

Please HELP!!!!!

I think you need to be looking at filtering your SPAM higher up the chain (i.e. Exchange).

Thanks for the reply...

We tried GFI Mail Essentials, but it didn't work that well. Is there anything you suggest?

How about a client-side solution, since there are only 10 Blackberry users?

Strange, we use GFI and have no issues at all, in fact I get less spam than anyone I know! Anything client side on desktops will help you on desktops but not on the BlackBerry devices. Because email gets routed from Exchange to the BES you'll end up getting loads of spam on the devices that you don't get in outlook. If you want to beat this problem on desktops and devices you need to go back to your GFI setup. I'll have a chat with our Exchange admin in the morning and find out where exactly we have our Mail Essentials sitting on Exchange and come back to you as I think that's your best angle to tackle it. WOn't be until tomorrow UK time though!

Hi

You definitely want to install it on Exchange and you want it checking emails before they get to the Exchange Mail Store. You could also install it on your gateway but I guess that depends on the size of your organisation and how you have you firewall configured.
