Default 7750 won't boot "Data abor..." after upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

I've got a 7750 Blackberry on Aliant (Bell Mobility) which I've tried upgrading to the 4.0 OS. The upgrade actually went fairly smoothly, aside from the odd twenty-minute boot time afterward.

After that, I tried loading some useful software onto the device, like the MidpSSH client. Didn't work. I also noticed that the device had become very sluggish, but I've seen other comments saying that's fairly common on the 7750s with 4.0.

But! After one hard reset, trying to recover the network after it fell off, the Blackberry won't boot anymore. It comes up, I get the rotating hourglass, then after about a minute I get "Data abor..." (no 't'!) with a "Reset" option selected. If I hit select, the device reboots... and comes back up in the same state.

I can't access the Blackberry via the Desktop Manager over USB, it never connects.

Is there a forceable clear-reset-restore or some trick that I can use to repair this thing?

Something you can try. Open up Desktop Manager (with the BlackBerry unconnected) open up the Application Loader. Before hitting next, pull the battery out of the 7750 for 5 to 10 seconds, then quickly put the battery back in, connect the BlackBerry, and hit next on the application loader. This should kickstart Application Loader to find the BlackBerry and allow you to reload the handheld software. So, make sure you have the handheld software installed on your comptuer (which you already do)
