Mark,

I just bought the blackberry 7230 (tmobile) and love it. How do i upgrade to 4.0 without causing big problems. I am confident that I can successfully install it, but you know, the blackberry is 2 days old and i am still in love with it and would hate to see something go wrong. Any pointers?

Thanks in advance.... i appreciate it.

jacobsaa,

Go to the t-mobile 7230 system upgrade page.

http://www.t-mobile.com/products/han...load_popup.asp

Enter your phone number and download the two files.
(Desktop 4.0.0.30 and OS 4.0.0.185)

Install the desktop program first. Next run the t-mo40.exe file.

Follow the onscreen prompts and away you go. It should take about 10-15 minutes for a full backup and install.

All of your information will be retained. Some of the address fields have changed in 4.0, so you may have to move a work address to a home address. Little things like that.

There will be some changes that need to be made if you're using the BWC for e-mail. Tmoobile defaults to the desktop as the e-mail system.

You will change this in 2 places.

1st - Options/Message Services/Change Option to Web Client

2nd - Messages/Options/Email Reconciliation/Message Services/Change Option to Web Client

Other than that it should be pretty seamless.

Let us know how it works out.
