Default Desktop Manager Crash upon loading

Please Login to Remove!

since a week my blackberry desktop manager version 3.6 sp3 crashed as soon as i loaded the DM, i checked the eventlog (windows xp home sp1) and there is no entry, i uninstalled the desktop manager 3.6 rebooted, installed desktop manager 4.1 and tried again, i also removed the blackberry folder (and all subfolders )in the documents and settings\user\applicaiton data\rim\, but no change

i even tried the latest 4.2 desktop manager version but it continues to crash without an entry in the event log.

I use the software i conjuction with outlook 2003 sp2 and i use it as a private user so it is not linked up to a bes server. I also tried setting up a new outlook profile but this did not make any difference

any ideas on how to resolve this issue

many thanks

Is it an actual error message or does it just close?

Default it can be fixed

you need to do a clean reinstall including registry

create a new mapi profile

and register the dll in the clean reinstall process

I have this problem and did about 100 things, and the new MAPI profile fixed it

The key is to follow it all in order

last step was the point DTM to the new profile and BAM - fixed.

you are probably leaving out one step or doing one step out of order.

Desktop 4.2 crashes as soon as open "Configure Sync" with c++ error
Hi folks - i'm new to the site so apologies if you already addressed this problem.
I have done all of the above including removing Office entirely, renaming .ost and .spt files, removing desktop entirely (and all folders containing bby data), removing all entries from the registry with either "blackberry" or "research in motion" and the +#$%&dy thing STILL CRASHES with a completely fresh install.
The only possible clue is that a very few Blackberry regisrty entries were locked and I could find no way of releasing and deleting them.
The crazy thing is that it was all working find and I have abvout 15 installations with the 8100 desktop working fine.
PLEASE has anyone got any great ideas to fix it before I teach the first 8100 to fly without wings?? - Norm
