This is a new FEATURE of the BlackBerry firmware (and I don't get why people get so nuts about it!).
While emails sent from Outlook will appear on the BlackBerry, only the header information (date, time, to, subject) are actually sent to the BlackBerry. You can, however, retrieve the entire message by opening the message, clicking the wheel, and selecting More (All).
That said, there are two ways to stop sent emails from appearing on the BlackBerry.
The first, which makes the behavior more like the way it used to be (only messages sent from the BlackBerry appear in the Messages list) is to go
Messages, click the wheel and select
Options, go to
Email Settings,
Click the wheel and select
Folder Redirection. Select the
Mailbox and hit
[Space] to expand it, scroll to the
Sent Items folder and hit
[Space] to uncheck it. Save and exit the options menus. This will make emails sent from Outlook unavailable to the BlackBerry.
The second way is go
Messages, click the wheel and select
Options, go to
General Options, scroll down to
Hide Sent Messages, and change the option to
Yes. This will hide
ALL emails sent - both from Outlook AND the BlackBerry, but still available on the BlackBerry using
View Folder from the Messages menu (and selecting
Sent Items folder).
NOTE: I have an 8700c running OS 4.1.0.194 (Cingular NEVER updates!). Anyway, I just tried Option 2, and now I can't see old sent items when I change set it back to No!!! Interesting that when I change it to YES, it says it's rebuilding the message list, but won't do that when I change it to No (or when I change the option to hide filed messages). Luckily I don't care, and I have a LOT of apps installed on the device, but be aware that this might happen!
