Unhappy Stripped back Deskto Manager??

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone, im a brand newbie with a secondhand BB. I was given a 8700g, it works well so far BUT i have a slight problem. There is no software CD to go with it. That seems to have been lost and noone can find it, and after seeing that bedroom there is no chance.......

It was given to me as i am an out and proud Ebook junkie and apparently these make great ebook readers, however without being able to sync it up to my trusty laptop its just a pocket filler that rings occasionally. I have looked at the official site for the desktop manager software, easy enough, however im running dial up internet and the size of that puppy made me cringe in horror. Waaaay to many MBs to DL on dial up, i would be hitting retirement before i could run it.

So getting to the crux of it, is there a stripped back version of the software that will simply hook it up to the laptop without all the useless stuff?? Like i said before, i really only want to upload an ebook reader and ebooks to the BB, nothing fancy.

Nothing worse than having a new toy you really cant play with

Yes there is a stripped down version of Desktop Manager called Device Manager. But it is only going to give you the drivers to charge your BlackBerry from your PC.

If you want to install software to your BlackBerry you have to download the full Desktop Manager. Find a friend with broadband and download it there, or maybe at work. Burn it to a CD and install from there.

Remember, please try searching first!

Need a screenshot? ... Like JavaLoader?
Try using BBscreen .....Use JL_Cmder!
or BBScreenShooter!

Wirelessly posted (7250/, Bell Mobility: BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

You may be able to find an ebook reader that is available to install and load new books OTA thereby eliminating your need for the Desktop Manager software.
