yeah lol i hope so too. Here's how i did it.
I didnt have anything to do with RIM installed on my pc. I got the box from nextel and set up the phone and activated it and all that. then i put the cd in, which tries to install the desktop software 4.0. I didnt even know i was supposed to install the handheld software on there untill today when i read it on the blackberry website, but it doesnt matter, because i cant even get the desktop software installed.
SO, i went to the website, downloaded 3.6 and installed that. then i installed the handheld software 4.0. it gives me some .dll error during the desktop software install, but it installed and connected to the phone. but, it won't back everything up. It gives me a database error.
lol i don't really know where i'm at now, but other than not being able to back everything up it's all good. so far i've been able to download all the software i've wanted OTA, and pay for it online. (BIG thanks to mark aka tirsch for providing that OTA download link to Pocket Day so i could get it).
I'd really like to be able to back everyting up at home and at work, because i lose my internship at work in 6 months. so, reinstalling windows isn't really an option because it's my home desktop, and i don't have any backups of the 80 gig of stuff i have on there, and even if i did, there's way too much downtime involved. I have 3.6 installed now, but when i try to install 4.0 it removes 3.6.
I'm a bit dissappointed, but i know that it's something with my particular system, because i don't find anything on my problem via google or the blackberry knowledge base.
so, i'd really like to be able to backup all the stuff i've added to the handheld. thanks for any help you can offer!
