Hi there, I have searched I know that this means that supposedly the handheld OS needs to be installed. It is, all I did was download the latest desktop manager, 4.2, and now this is occurring, all was fine before that using I can't remember what version of the DM, 4.0.something. I have even gone so far as to uninstall the Handheld Software from my service provider, reboot, and reinstall and still no joy. The desktop manager is seeing the handheld OS because under application loader wizard it shows all the 4.1 OS options and if I go to help -> About Desktop Manager -> Device Software is lists v4.1.0.319 (Platform 2.0.0.134) for the BlackBerry 8700 Series Wireless, which is what I have. What next, the Desktop Manager is 4.2.0.10 which is newer than the handheld OS but I didn't think that made a difference. I should have just left it alone but I had to play with the latest and greatest!! Do I uninstall everything and start over? What version of the desktop manager to install? Thanks gurus.

***Note-I just went to my service provider and checked their suggested version of the desktop manager and the version they have there is 4.1.0.13, could having 4.2 be the problem?

Make sure you have installed the latest handheld OS.
Then delete VENDOR.XML on the C: drive of your PC and restart Desktop Manager.

I meant to mention in my thread above that I tried that at one point as well with no difference. I just tried again to make sure but still no luck, any ideas now. Also, after doing the first connection, there is still no vendor.xml file in
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Research In Motion\AppLoader, is that to be expected? Thanks.

Okay, since I am 7 hours ahead of the US I thought I would try some other things. I have removed the vendor.xml file, I have done a complete uninstall per RIM KB-02206, used the CD provided with the handheld and did javaloader wipe, no luck. It always reinstalls the handheld OS perfectly, when I got Application Launcher I can see the OS files, when I try to add I still get the No Additional Applications error.


Update-Well I found the problem by luck. I decided to try to install another application, I had been trying to install PocketDay and it went fine. I then extracted the PD zip file again and instead of thinking I was smart and moving the files around, I left it as it was and it worked, the alx. file is obviously then looking in the subdirectories automatically, all this for that.
