Default pearl webbrowser messed up?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey so I'm new to the blackberry I just bought my first on Monday, I got the pearl coming from a sidekick 2 and I have a few questions about the webbrowser...when I go to the infamous myspace.com and I log in
And I scroll down and then where the alerts pop up instead of just
Showing the alerts that I really have like a new message it shows all of the possible alerts like new picture comment even though I don't have one...I guess you have to be familiar with myspace
To know what I'm talking anout. Also on myspace when ever I press groups or post bulleton it gives me that gay unexpected error everytime...why is the browser doing these things? Also, is there like a website I can go to like youtube that will play videos or even just songs on my browser? Thanks for the help

I've heard the third party app Opera mini works better in myspace. Hearsay on my behalf, but you may want to try it.

There is a site called tinytube that resizes and compresses the vids but idon't think they will play directly on the 8100. Haven't tried it.

These have been discussed so try a search in the 8100 forum for tinytube. There's a big thread on Opera.

OK so I did a little bit of searching, and I found out that the Opera Mini is like a different web broswer for the blackberry, but if you don't mind I have a few questions to ask before I download it to my phone...

-Is it safe to download?
-Can I take it off my phone at any time i choose? If so how?
-How do I access the Opera Mini once I have installed it in my phone? (Like will it be a different icon in my menu?)

Thanks alot!

Yes to all three.

To remove an app go to: options>advanced>Applications highlight the app, press the menu key (one to the left of the Pearl) select delete.

In order to use opera, if you are on TMO go into Options>advanced>TCP and put wap.voicestream.com in the APN spot. Leave password and user blank.

Seriously, I'm not one the types that will tell you search everytime you ask a question but the Opera thread, if studied, has a great deal more info than I could put in this response. BTW, personally I've tried it, but I find it too cumbersome for my everyday use. Others swear by it.

Good luck

Yeah I have T-Mobile, I think the Pearl is only on Tmobile but yeah...
So I'll try it out, I think I'll only be using this for myspace so its not messed up, then I'll use the defaut Blackberry Browser for almost eveyrthing else because I'm very pleased with it. Thanks for the help, I'm going to try it out As soon as I can..

just downloaded it, and tried out myspace, the BB Browser is deffiently alot nicer, however the Opera Mini 3.0 displays the alerts and goes to the pages i requested. I will just use Opera for Myspace, so I can get everything I want, then I'm using the BB Broswer for all other webbroswing because that one is really nice.

Using Opera isn't going to add any charges to my bill right?

No. The pearl is on a number of carriers. TMO is the only US carrier, as we speak. This is an international forum and I don't know where you are.

I've been around here long enough to know that there are few "for sures" but I can reasonably state that this third party app will not incur you added charges.

Your feelings on the browsers is the same as mine.
