Thumbs down OZ Instant Messaging on T-Mobile Pearl8100

Please Login to Remove!

I was just wondering if there's a way to uninstall the OZ Instant Messaging program from my t-mobile pearl...

I try to do it under settings>advanced options>applications and select delete for the program, but after reboot it's back on there

i can just hide it i suppose but wondering if theres a way to remove it cause i hate it...

When I went to delete it I had to do it twice. The first time I deleted it when it rebooted it came back so I did the same thing and the second time it was deleted. Hope that helps. You can also check your desktop manager to make sure its not adding it when you connect.

It will probably come back the next time the handheld registers with the network.

ok well i tried to uninstall it twice. then an icon that links to the download page for the OZ instant messenger showed up on my menu. that wasnt in the application list.

then i went to "settings>advanced options>service book"
and deleted the entry that said something like 't-mobile instant messaging'

and i think that got rid of everything OZ related in my phone for now.

i hope it doesnt come back or anything, cause i dont like that messenger at all...

Yes, that will do it until you do a "register now" or if the phone decides to reregister on it's own for some reason-Occasionally I've seen them do that. If that happens you'll most likely get it back.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get that app without a data plan? My friend bought a Pearl, but doesn't have a data plan yet, but still wants to use AIM, which should be possible, since that just uses text messages, right?

If you're talking about OZ IM client, it doens't use data, it uses SMS. So I'm pretty sure you can get it without having a data plan. Be sure to get a TXT plan though.

Which is exactly why TMO wants it on there. SMS makes them more money. They're betting that people don't use alternative chat programs that do use data. Sneaky bums.

I think what he's asking is don't you need a data plan to get the OZ program on to the BB. And I think you do. I think it needs to download OTA. Once installed it only needs SMS.

It still needs the service book in order to work, so yes, it does need a data plan provisioned for BlackBerry.

just goes to show...why have a BB without a data plan. Like owning a car with no wheels. You can still sit in it and pretend you're going somewhere but in reality, you're not getting anywhere!

from where I download this application? I'm on T-Mobile in Germany and dont have this application. If I download the pearl 4.2 firmware from T-Mobile US - will this have this funny OZ? Or somebody can give me a link from where I can download it over the air? I want to test it.

thanks!
