Default Trouble installing Desktop Software v4.2?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a Cingular Pearl today and was told to uninstall v4.1 and install v4.2 for the Pearl. I put the disk in and all I get is a blank grey screen that says BlackBerry User Tools. Nothing seems to load. I did not have a problem when I loaded v4.1 for my 7130c. I also tried to load it from the BlackBerry website and I get a message that says I need to run windows 2000, windows xp or windows 2003 server or later. I think I am running windows ME. HELP!!!

Windows ME.. Hmmmm...

Go to Microsoft Corporation and find the downloads pack. Look for the latest version of Windows Install v3.1 and try to install that. See if that helps.

In the getting starting guide it says...

If you use windows 98(not windows 98 second edition), you must download the DCOM version 1.3 update from www.microsoft.com/com/defualt.mspx for the USB driver to operate as needed.

I hope that does the trick, but does not apply to ME.

Crap, I called data support. Apparently v4.2 is NOT compatibale with windows ME. Sounds like this is a new bug that will be addressed. I'll have to go back to the Cingular store to back-up and re-store my data from my old device to my new device. Not a huge deal for now.

Bug? ME is not a supported OS! Microsoft ended support of ME on July 11, 2006.

Get a copy of DM v4.1 and it will work with the Peal, but you will NOT have Media Manager and Switch Wizard.

Went back to old version 4.1...

says device not found after I click detect connection. I get this error message on my device:

USB charging current is not sufficient. Verify that your handheld is connected to a powered USB charging source and that the proper USB driver is installed.

Everything is hooked up. I never had problems when I did this with my 7130c.
