Default v4.2.0.67 with Chinese Fonts (Read Only) available.

Please Login to Remove!

Hey all,

v4.2.0.67_P2.2.0.39 with Chinese / Korean / Japanese fonts can be downloaded from Singapore Telecom via the link in the stickied downloads topic.

Still no input method, but it's better than nothing!

I have it running on my T-mobile Pearl. Works great so far!

Thanks for the headsup! HKCSL web site is only offering the .64 version. Does it solve the call lag issue?

I've been using this and the 64 from HKCSL and I haven't really noticed anything. What's the phone lag problem? If you can describe, I'll check it out on my phone.

I am new to Blackberry world. Can anyone let me know where to download the latest Chinese OS and how to install it to the phone? Any link to other threads will be good. Thanks.

so which update are you actually using? By phone lag issue, I mean when someone calls and I press to answer the call, the other party cant hear me for a few seconds.

I'm dying for a Japanese solution - even just display!

Does anyone know of one that works on an 8703e?

I see there is a version for the 8707... Is there any way to extract just the Japanese portions and install it on my 8703e?

I'm using .67 now. I guess there's always been a slight second or two delay between pressing "answer" and the call going live, but I guess I just never expected everything to be instantaneous.

To offer a bit more information, there's actually an even more recent release from Cingular Wireless - 4.2.0.69_P2.2.0.40 - available from their software download website (http://www.cingular.com/bbdownloads)

True, but I don't think the Cingular software has the Chinese fonts, does it?

The download site (http://www.cingular.com/bbdownloads) states the following:

BlackBerry Handheld Software v4.2.0.84 (Multilanguage)

Package Version: 4.2.0.84

Consisting of:

* Applications: 4.2.0.69
* Software Platform: 2.2.0.40
* File name: 8100M_PBr4.2.0_rel84_PL2.2.0.40_A4.2.0.69_Cingular .exe
* File size: 68.01MB
Not sure if it will include the Chinese language files; however, you should be able to copy the .COD files from the other handheld software installation into the Cingular one and it should work (I may be wrong, of course).

...in fact, upon further consideration, it might actually work more to your benefit to copy the Cingular .COD files into the other software installation so you have the more updated software as well as the features of the older installation as well. 0.o; If anyone would like to give this a shot, let me know what happens, as I don't have a Pearl to test with, m'self.

I am running 4.2.1.139 on a 8703 Unit and it works great. (This OS is for the 8703)

I would wait to get 4.2, rather than load a partial functioning OS on to your device.

Thats just my 2 cents,

GB

Money! Now we just need 4.2 with the Chinese inputs. At least it sound like it's in the works for us!

Hey Guys,

I just bought a Pearl in Hong Kong and it turned out it was import from T-Mobile UK. So I loaded the HKCSL BlackBerry OS onto my Pearl (link to HKCSL is in the article) and got Chinese character reading support. As I am currently locate in China mainland I need a chinese input method (i would prefer pinyin of course). Also the HKCSL version does bring this for the Pearl. I guess the main problem is the SureType technology because it is not so easy to determine which letter is meant if you press a key.

Does anyone know if and when the Chinese input method support is planned for the Pearl in HK, China Mainland, Taiwan, Singapore or anywhere else?
