OK, I have an 8700c and I'm currently running whatever form of Telstra was popular in the last 5-6 months (with the Zen theme and all that).

I just downloaded the new Cingular 4.1 but have not installed yet - is this what I should use and is the process fairly easy, just connect and run the BB desktop manager software?

If I should be using a different OS or if there is a good guide I have failed to find, please discuss. Thank you!

The new Cingular OS should be just fine to use. Any OS is okay if you aren't having problems with it. I still have the Telstra OS that you have and it works great, probably won't upgrade to the Cingular OS.

I'm sure there's a bunch of threads with pro/cons but I'm having trouble searching for it at the moment.

Zen is included on the new Cingy OS; think of it this way, when someone provides an update to something it has enhancements and changes to the prior version which is generally believe to be better than the prior. Some users (as stated by paulbblc) prefer the prior version which is why they stick with it and there is nothing wrong with that as it is their personal preference but all in all enhancements or OS updates are good things.

I'm not sure if it's an improvement or not. I haven't seen any of the stats. I have no problems with Telstra and probably won't upgrade again until 4.2 comes out.

OK, I am confused.

I have the current Telstra (here is what it says on my About screen

8700c

v4.1.0.309 (Platform 2.0.0.133)

However, when I go to run Desktop Mgr and Application Loader, it tells me the 4.1 would be a downgrade that I downloaded from Cingular. (huh?)

Is this normal? I've tried using the search function to no avail. Sorry to cause so much trouble, can someone advise me?
