Default Can I use ANY CDMA carrier OS on my VZW 8703e? - 01-06-2007, 09:08 PM

In the "Latest OS" thread, (LINK) it lists AllTell's OS as the latest for the 8703e (at the time of this post).

Since AllTell is a CDMA carrier, can I use AllTell's OS on my Verizon 8703e?

Verizon 8703e | OS v4.2.1.106 | EVDO Tethering | Desktop v4.2 | BIS 2.x

Are there any drawbacks or benefits to using Alltel's OS on the Verizon 8703e? Is there any extra setup required?

Nope - just erase the old, install the new.

Can't quite put my finger on it, there seems to be some quirkiness with transition between applications that delays the phone application somehow, but nothing fatal yet.

Also, the speakerphone and speaker SEEMS to be louder and less distorted when turned up.

If anything, I'd say it's not worth it. If the funkiness with app transition continues, I'll be going back to VZW's version.

I'll probably just stick with Verizon's version that I have now until they release a new one. I was hoping for OS 4.2 by now, but oh well.

You must delete the vendor.xml file from your pc or the alltel os won't install. This goes for any os not from your carrier.
